WASHINGTON (AP) Delta Air Lines says a flight from Washington's Reagan National Airport to Atlanta was diverted to Dulles International Airport minutes into the flight after the crew detected a smoky odor in the cabin.
Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant said the aircraft carrying 148 passengers and a crew of five landed at Dulles, in the Virginia suburbs of the nation's capital, without incident Thursday afternoon. He says there were no injuries.
Durant says technicians examined the Boeing MD-88 aircraft after it arrived at the gate at Dulles. He estimated the flight had been airborne for several minutes before the decision to divert to Dulles was made.
Durant said the airline was working afterward to get the passengers to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
He had no immediate information what caused the odor.
