ATLANTA — After earning national rankings earlier in the day, the Piedmont College baseball team continued to roll with a 9-6 victory on the road at Oglethorpe Tuesday night. The familiar duo of Allen Tokarz and Josh Thomas picked up the win and the save respectively as Tokarz now has three wins in the past three games and Thomas has four saves in as many games.
The Lions began the scoring early as they had a three spot in the top of the first and led 5-0 following the top of the second, but the Stormy Petrels fought back to tie the game at five all, and again at six all after the fifth inning.
Piedmont took the lead in the sixth inning with three runs on singles by Breck Davidson and Michael Barnes. Barnes led the team with four hits in the contest marking his sixth multi-hit game of the season and second-best performance of the year.
Tokarz pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief earning the victory allowing just one hit, no runs, one walk and a strikeout. Thomas closed out the game tossing the final inning giving up a hit and striking out a pair.
Piedmont will host Huntingdon College this weekend at Loudermilk Field for a three-game series.
