GBI investigating Elberton murder-suicide

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Elberton police are investigating a murder-suicide that happened Saturday evening.

According to a Sunday afternoon press release, the incident happened at a residence on Reese Street in Elberton just after 6:30 p.m. Witnesses told police a male began shooting at a female during a domestic dispute. The female flagged down a car and jumped in the passenger seat, leading the male to fire into the car injuring both the female and the driver.

The shooter also fired on a 17-year old female, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses say the male then fired on himself multiple times. He was also found dead when authorities arrived.

The female and driver of the vehicle who were injured were both transported to local medical centers and released. No names have been released at this time.
