BOGART — North Oconee knocked off Chestatee 7-1 Friday in both teams' Region 8-AAAA opener.
Austin Sargent started for the War Eagles giving up five runs on on hits in four innings. He fanned three. Clay Coffey pitched two innings in relief allowing two unearned runs on just one hit with two strikeouts for Chestatee.
Offensively, Cameron Wilson, Christian Carter, Sargent, and Coffey each had one hit for Chestatee. The War Eagles scored their lone run in the top of the seventh when Reggie James scored on a sacrifice fly by Wilson.
Chestatee will play host to North Oconee on Monday in second game of a home-and-home series.
Chestatee and North Oconee face off on Friday.
