Baseball: Chestatee snaps losing streak, nips Lakeview

GAINESVILLE — Chestatee nipped Lakeview Academy 7-6 Wednesday in non-region baseball action at War Eagle Field.

The War Eagles (3-6) snapped a six-game losing streak with the victory. 

The Lions (3-5) were paced by Brandon Ragone, who had three hits, including a triple, and two RBI. Peyton Solinsky had two hits and scored twice Lakeview and Logan Barwick, Gabe McConnell, and Logan DeHass each had two hits for the Lions.

Chestatee got an RBI single from Joe Sutton, an RBI walk by Austin Sargent, a two-run double by Sean Irick, and Cameron Wilson drove in a run on a fielder's choice.

Sutton was credited with the win after throwing two innings and giving up two runs. Sargent picked up the save striking out the side in the seventh.

Chestatee will hit the road on Friday traveling to North Oconee to open Region 8-AAAA play.

Lakeview Academy will travel to Athens Christian on Friday to open its Region 8-A schedule.
