GAINESVILLE — Farris Mance and Sam Carpenter had three hits apiece and Anthony Carrera belted a three-run home run to lead Gainesville to a 10-0, six-inning win over Flowery Branch Wednesday in Region 8-AAAAA action at Ivey-Watson Field.
The Red Elephants (7-1, 4-0 Region 8-AAAAA) swept the season series against the Falcons (2-5-1, 0-2) with the victory.
Jonathan Gettys got the win, pitching out of a pair of early-inning jams. He went four innings allowing no runs.
Gainesville scored twice in the first, once in the second, and two more in the third for a 5-0 lead. Carrera's blast capped a four-run fifth. The Red Elephants invoked the mercy rule with a run in the sixth.
The Red Elephants next travel to Grayson on Friday in a non-region battle. The Falcons will play host to Clarke Central in another 8-AAAAA tilt.
