FLOWERY BRANCH — The Flowery Branch girls soccer team snapped a four-match losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Apalachee Friday night in its Region 8-AAAAA opener.

The Lady Falcons (2-4, 1-0 Region 8-AAAAA) took a 1-0 lead 15 minutes in when senior captain Rachel Cohn, assisted by Halie Windish, found the back of the net. It stayed that way until halftime.

Just 21 seconds into the second half Allyson Lusco scored to give Flowery Branch a 2-0 lead. Apalachee would cut it to 2-1 but could not get the equalizer.

Kelsey Mathis recorded four saves in goal for the Lady Falcons.

Flowery Branch will be back in action on Tuesday traveling to Lanier in another 8-AAAAA match.
