The Gainesville girls tennis team defeated Flowery Branch 3-2 Wednesday in a rain-delayed Region 8-AAAAA match.
The Lady Red Elephants (2-0, 1-0 R egion 8-AAAAA) got singles wins from No. 1 Katherine Wright 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 and No. 3 Ali Waggoner 7-6 6-3 as well as No. 1 doubles Paige Patterson and Madi Kiser 6-2, 6-1.
The Lady Falcons got wins from Annabelle Thomas at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-4 and from Kaia Clark and Bailey Sims 6-0, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles.
Gainesville next will play host to Discovery on Thursday at Longwood Park in another Region 8-AAAAA match.
