Nicklaus Jenkins has been promoted to Corporal (Cpl.) at Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville.
Cpl. Jenkins will be assisting with the daily administrative, planning, and enforcement duties of the post.

Jenkins began his career with the Georgia Department of Public Safety in 2011, graduating from the 88th Georgia State Patrol Trooper School, where he was elected the class Vice-President by his fellow cadets. Upon graduation, he was assigned to GSP Athens. In Athens, Cpl. Jenkins led the post in DUI detection/arrests and vehicle stops from 2011 to 2015. In 2013, he received the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Northeast Traffic Enforcement Network, T. Helcher DUI Award. Additionally, Jenkins received awards for outstanding DUI detection from Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (M.A.D.D.) in 2012, 2013, and 2014; and the Athens Area Rotary Club Public Safety Officer of the Year in 2014.
For three years, he was also assigned to the University of Georgia football detail, providing sideline security for visiting team coaches, and served on the Georgia State Patrol Presidential Inauguration detail in Washington in 2012.
Prior to being assigned to GSP Gainesville, Cpl. Jenkins served as the Defensive Tactics and Vehicle Pullover Training Coordinator in the Georgia State Patrol Training Division.
He began his law enforcement career in 2004 as a Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Conservation Ranger, being named the Rocky Wainwright Waterfowl Officer of the Year in 2008. While at DNR, Cpl. Jenkins was also a part-time patrol officer with the City of Winterville Police Department.
He is a native of Oglethorpe County.
