The USA South Athletic Conference has released its 2015-16 All-Conference listing in women's basketball with three Lady Lions being named to the honor. Seniors Mary Kate Rushton and Le'Shaunda Jones join junior Brianna Barrett as All-Conference honorees with Jones and Barrett serving as repeat selections.
Rushton earns a 1st Team All-Conference nod after leading the team with her 10 points per game average having scored 20 or more in three contests this season for PC. Per 40 minutes, Rushton averaged 23.5 points per game, 2nd best in the USA South, while she finished top 20 in the league in several offensive categories including 3-point field goal percentage, overall field goal percentage, and total points scored.
On the 2nd Team was Rushton's classmate Jones who made her living defensively finishing top three in the league in steals this season. Jones also a top ten shooter in the league hitting on better than 45 percent from the field while she also finished top 25 in points per game, points per 40 minutes, and offensive rebounds.
Earning Honorable Mention status, Barrett orchestrated one of the top scoring offenses in the league and the 13th best scoring offense in all of NCAA Division III playing point for the Lady Lions who averaged better than 75 points per game. Barrett led the USA South in assist to turnover ratio with a 1.9 mark while also placing 5th in the league in steals and 11th in total assists.
Senior Taylor Swoszowski was also honored as the team's representative for the All-Sportsmanship Team.
The Lady Lions will be making their third straight trip to the postseason as the No. 2 seed in the upcoming USA South Championship Tournament as hosted by Maryville College this week. Piedmont will face 7th seeded Averett University on Thursday in the 3 p.m. game with live video coverage available for fans unable to make it up to Tennessee.
