CARROLLTON. — A Georgia state trooper who was fired after a crash that killed two teenage girls won't face criminal charges.
Carroll County prosecutors said Wednesday a grand jury declined to charge Anthony James Scott in the September crash that killed 17-year-old Kylie Hope Lindsey and 16-year-old Isabella Alise Chinchilla.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (on-ajc.com/1oKKp88) Scott was driving a patrol car that sideswiped the girls' car as it was attempting a left turn late at night.
An investigation found the teenagers' vehicle failed to yield to the trooper. But it also found Scott was driving at 91 mph just before the crash. The Georgia State Patrol said Scott was not responding to any emergencies.
Scott was fired in October. A month later, he won election to a city council seat in Buchanan.
