OAKWOOD — West Hall got the Chad Sage era off to an exciting start Wednesday with a 4-3, come-from-behind win over Habersham Central at West Hall Field.
The Spartans (1-0) trailed 3-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning but loaded the bases with no one out. They scored one run on a passed ball, got a game-tying RBI hit from Merritt Gawaway, and then Josh Anderson provided the game-winning single to win the game.
Anderson finished with two hits and one RBI for West Hall. Brian Newman had a hit and one RBI for the Spartans.
Kyle Reynolds tossed five innings of no-hit ball for West Hall before giving way to Trey Horten, who got the win in relief.
Chad Sage, a former Chestatee High standout, took over the Spartans program this season and got his first career win as coach in his first try.
