Girls basketball: Dawson County falls to John's Creek in Commerce Classic finals

COMMERCE — Dawson County jumped out to a quick lead but could not hold it falling to John's Creek 57-51 in the finals of the Commerce Christmas Classic Thursday night.

The Lady Tigers led 15-7 after the first quarter but John's Creek answered with a 21-10 second quarter to take a 28-25 lead into halftime. John's Creek extended the lead to 46-40 heading into the fourth quarter and held off several late charges by the Lady Tiogers.

Dawson County was led Kaylee Sticker with 14 points. Anna Lowe had 12, and Calli Watson, who was named to the All-Tournament team, finished with 10 points for the Lady Tigers. Abi Chatham added nine points.

Dawson County is off until jumping back into Region 7-AAA play traveling to North Hall on Jan. 3.
