Residents are invited to an open house Jan. 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. to discuss the widening of McGinnis Ferry Road in South Forsyth, officials announced.

The event will be help at the Forsyth Conference Center at Lanier Technical College located on Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Cumming, according to a press statement.

The project would widen McGinnis Ferry from Sargent Road to Ronald Reagan Boulevard -- about 4.6 miles -- with two lanes in each direction and a 20-foot, raised median.

“An informal open house of this nature is meant to inform residents and allow for more opportunities to answer individual questions. We look forward to speaking with county residents and sharing the proposed plans,” said John Cunard, Forsyth County director of engineering.

Plans also call for a 10-foot wide multi-use path and a five-foot wide sidewalk.

If you can't attend the meeting, but would still like to register a comment, written statements can be mailed to:

Mr. Tim Allen
Assistant Director, Forsyth County Engineering Department
110 E. Main Street, Suite 120
Cumming, Georgia 30040

Displays of the plans will remain available for public viewing in the County Administration building until Jan. 20, when the comment period closes.
