Gwinnett County commissioners on Tuesday gave their approval to a senior living center and 150-unit neighborhood along Gravel Springs Road in the Buford area, ending a months-long debate between neighbors and developers.
Satilla Capital Partners will be developing the land at the intersection of Gravel Springs and Brown Road, near I-85.
The neighborhood comes with a list of conditions, including a minimum square footage of 2,200 square feet for each one-story home and 2,400 for two-story homes. Homeowners in the area were concerned with the potential density of the lots.
Commissioners also tabled a plan for a townhome community in that area, an issue that will not be heard until 2017.
"We think (it's) a good mix, a good combination of uses, but something that balances the quality, because certainly they have great communities there, good quality homes," said Marian Adeimy, attorney for Andersen, Tate and Carr, at a public hearing in November.
The 118-acre development plan was first submitted in August.
