Tallulah Falls Mayor Dan Hayes said the resignation he submitted Monday is for personal reasons and added it is best for the residents of the town.
"It's kind of sad to have to do this, but you've got to put your people in the town before yourself," Hayes said. "And it was just my true thought that's what I needed to do."
Hayes said he felt that things happening in his personal life were cutting into his ability to serve the town effectively.
