It's been a year and a half since Flowery Branch City Council gave its approval to the "See Click Fix" app, which lets residents submit reports to the city staff for issues such as code violations or road damage.
"For the most part it's been mainly code enforcement. I like to attribute that to our Public Works (Department) guys. They're on top of their job, making sure everything is already fixed," said Kevin Hutcheson, Flowery Branch permit clerk.
The app, which is available on Apple and Android devices, allows users to submit a photo to city staff, which will be able to find the location based on GPS tracking.
It also allows users to vote on which issues are most important to them.
More importantly, Hutcheson said, is the fact that this lets city staff communicate more directly with citizens, something that helps with routine maintenance that impact a resident's power or water service.
For that reason, Hutcheson said he's hoping the number of users will increase, something he said creates a greater sense of community for Flowery Branch residents.
"Not only is it (city staff) reporting issues, but it gives everyone a sense of pride in their community. They can say, 'Hey, I want this fixed.' And I can show that we have the commitment to them to do things like that," said Hutcheson.
"It's not necessarily a platform just to report issues. If they have general questions they can report that and answer them that way," including questions about local festivals or events.
He said over the first year, around 120 issues have been reported with the app.
