The Gwinnett County Police Department has issued the following as a public advisory/traffic alert for Saturday:
Procession route for Deputy Commander Patrick Carothers funeral service:
- Depart Flanigan’s Funeral Home, Buford, Georgia, 11 a.m.
- Southeast on South Lee Street to Buford Drive
- Left onto Buford Drive and then onto I-985 South
- I-985 South to I-85 South
- Exit at Indian Trail Road (Exit #101)
- Left onto Indian Trail-Lilburn Road
- Arrive Greater Atlanta Christian School, 1575 Indian Trail Road, Norcross, Georgia, 11:30 a.m.
Carothers, a U.S. Marshal, who was from Flowery Branch, was killed a week ago in Long County, Georgia, as he and other law enforcement officers tried to arrest a fugitive. The fugitive was also killed in the exchange of gunfire.
