Hall County fire crews battled two fires off of Highway 129 South - a residential and a brush fire - during the Tuesday afternoon rush hour.
The residential fire was located in the 2800 block of Gillsville Highway and crews were called just before 4 p.m., according to an email from Fire Captain Zach Brackett.
Brackett said one occupant was removed from the burning 1200 square foot home and was transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center for smoke inhalation.
The residential fire was extinguished and the cause is unknown, meanwhile, more crews were dispatched to Smallwood Road off 129 to a woods fire.
The woods fire, which Brackett said was originally somewhere between five to 10 acres, was inbetween Smallwood, Microwave Tower and Allen Creek Roads.
Georgia Forestry was called to the scene in order to cut a fire break around the fire, which grew to roughly 12 acres in size. Brackett said after flames jumped the initial line, another bulldozer crew was summoned to assist in the line-cutting efforts.
No injuries have been reported in that incident. The cause of the brush fire is also unknown.
