The Georgia Mountain Food Bank, which serves Hall, Dawson, Forsyth, Lumpkin and Union counties, says that one out of five people in their service region face issues associated with food insecurity on a daily basis. As the holiday season grows closer, the GMFB hopes to feed the over 50,000 locals affected by food insecurity, but they need the public's help in order to do so.
GMFB Executive Director Kay Blackstock joined WDUN's Afternoon News Wrap this week to discuss the hunger problems that affect so many North Georgians, as well as organization's goals in battling the issue during the holiday season and what interested locals can do to help.
