Smoke from the forest fires in north Georgia and bordering states - which wasn't too noticeable Friday - is expected to push into the Gainesville area again Saturday. In fact, it is forecast to push well into central Georgia.
That's because, according to the National Weather Service, winds will again sbe from the north-northwest. In addition, the winds are expected to be stronger than in recent days, gusting to 25+ miles-an-hour.
The prospects of strong winds, coupled with low humidity, has prompted the weather service to issue a High Fire Danger alert for Saturday. In addition, a wind advisory has been issued.
And, there is a Freeze Watch in effect for much of north and central Georgia.
