Gainesville First United Methodist Church will host its 3rd Annual Missions Market on Sunday, November 13 at the church Reception Hall at 2780 Thompson Bridge Road.

This year’s theme – Got Hope? Give Hope – reflects the basic purpose of the market which is to follow Jesus’ direction to “Go into ALL the World and preach the Gospel to ALL Creation” – Mark 16:15.  All proceeds from Missions Market go directly to serve missions.

Missions Market offers shopping for unique and handmade gifts, food items from the Culinary Market, and GIVE HOPE CARDS, a means to honor or remember a special person through donations to one of seven missions supported by the church  Last year, $25,000 was collected via these cards and distributed to missions around the world.

Got Hope? Give Hope proceeds help alleviate poverty and empower individuals in developing countries to care for their families, gain access to healthcare, expand education and move from dependence to independence.

Special to Gainesville First UMC members this year is a collection of advent stories from beloved former minister Dr. Jim Thompson who served the church as senior minister from 1970-1983. Dr. Thompson passed away in 2012 and church members have collected a series of timeless Christmas stories to share with the congregation and community. Dr. Thompson had a tremendous heart for international missions, especially for the impoverished North Shore area of Honduras where he gave much of his time and talent at a Methodist school there.

Hours for Missions Market are 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
