Suwanee city council to consider 18-acre development near Town Center, senior living center

At its November meeting, members of the Suwanee city council will likely vote on an 18-acre mixed use development just south of Town Center Park on Buford Highway.

Lynwood Development is looking to rezone the tract of land adjacent to Chicago Street to build street-level retail buildings with apartments above them, and developers recently added a 70-unit townhome community to the plan.

"It's a combination and an extension of something that was approved about a year ago," said Marty Allen, city manager. "This is something that's been tabled and postponed a few times."

Developers added additional land to the project for the townhome community, which necessitated another public hearing before the council.

On the west side of town, council members will consider the approval of a senior living center on Suwanee Dam Road at its intersection with Brogdon Road.

The three-story building would also serve as a memory care and assisted living facility, according to Allen.

The Suwanee Planning Commission has recommended approval of both motions, which council will consider at its meeting Nov. 15.
