A woman in her 40s was hit and killed Friday night along Limestone Parkway near Clarks Bridge Road.
"She was apparently in the vicinity, and for some reason she darted out in front of the vehicle. The vehicle didn't have any time to stop," said Sgt. Kevin Holbrook, Gainesville Police spokesman.
The driver of the car was cooperative with law enforcement, and Holbrook said no charges are expected at this time, though the investigation is ongoing.
He said the driver was very distraught at the scene; the incident happened around 9:15 p.m.
The victim's identity is being withheld, pending notification of her family.
