A member of the Lumpkin County High School band has been chosen to be a part of the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band.
The school will hold a ceremony next week in honor of Griffin Sosebee.
The U.S. Army All-American Marching Band performs each year at halftime of the nationally-broadcast U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Sosebee, a trumpet player, is one of only 125 high school marching band members nationwide selected to be a part of the group. According to a news release from the Army, members are chosen not just because they excel musically, but because they are mentally and physically agile, they know the importance of teamwork, and they are able to adapt to challenging situations, similar to Army Soldiers.
The ceremony honoring Sosebee will be held at the school Tuesday at 1:30.
The All-American Band will perform Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at halftime of the All-American Bowl which will be played at noon CST in San Antonio, Texas, and telecast on NBC.
