BLUE RIDGE — Union County football kept its offensive onslaught rolling on Friday night in Blue Ridge, as the Panthers rolled past Fannin County 63-39, setting records for points scored in a single game and in a half (49).

The win moved Union within one win of nailing down the No. 3 playoff seed for the state playoffs -- though the Panthers must defeat Lumpkin County to ensure that position.

Certainly Union will enter next week's contest with offensive momentum after putting up 557 total yards in Friday's win.

Quarterback Cole Wright helped lead the explosion, rushin nine times for 145 yards and three touchdowns while also going 15 of 19 passing for 205 yards and three scores. Running back Bo Lynch also proved pivotal, carrying 12 times for 184 yards and three TDs while adding 34 yards receiving.

Kanon Hemphill snagged five receptions for 105 yards and two scores -- all career highs. Logan Dyer also added four receptions for 55 yards; Austin Pattee also had two receptions for 12 yards and a score.

Defensively Cole Dockery picked off two Fannin passes, while Luke Winkler snagged one interception.

The win gave Union County 31 over the last four seasons -- making this year's senior class the program's most successful. And another victory next week over Lumpkin would certainly be one to remember.

Union County quarterback Cole Wright, right, hands the ball off to running back Bo Lynch in the Panthers win over Fannin County on Friday in Blue Ridge.
