GAINESVILLE — Lakeview football held out in overtime for a 42-35 win over Towns County on Friday in Gainesville.
The Lions (2-7, 2-6 Region 8-A) led throughout the first half only to watch the Indians (2-7, 1-7) catch them at the end of regulation, but Lakeview managed the only touchdown of the extra frame to notch its first victory since Sept. 23.
Quarterback Alec Bornhorst paced the Lions' offensive onslaught, tossing five touchdown passes. He also played a key role on defense, picking off two Towns County passes.
Bornhorst hooked up with Brandon Browner and Carter Reeves for two touchdown strikes apiece. KJ Millwood also caught one scoring pass, while Dillon Knepp added a touchdown run.
Lakeview will wrap its regular season next week against Riverside Military Academy at Lakeview.
Towns County plays host to Providence Christian next week to close out its season.
