Bonita C. Jacobs, president of the University of North Georgia, and Lanier Technical College President Ray Perren will speak Friday at the North Georgia Regional Education Summit in Cumming.
Jacobs will provide the welcome address and provide an update on UNG and the University System of Georgia. Perren will discuss the state of Lanier Tech and give an update on the Technical College System of Georgia.
The North Georgia Regional Education Summit is designed to discuss how public education will serve and lead the region for the long term future. Other speakers at the event include:
- Dr. Dana Rickman, policy and research director, Georgia Partnership for Excellent in Education – keynote address
- Dr. Jeff Bearden, superintendent, Forsyth County Schools – state of Forsyth County Schools and system update
- Rope Roberts, region economic development manager, Georgia Power Foundation, Inc. – business community engagement in education
The summit will also feature a panel discussion with additional speakers, and tours of career and technical education labs at South Forsyth High School.
The summit is free to attend, but requires registration. It will be held at the Forsyth Conference Center on the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Campus. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., and the summit runs from 10 a.m. through 1 p.m., and includes lunch.
