UNG men's golf moves up to claim Top 10 finish at Matt Dyas Invite

CARROLLTON — The University of North Georgia men's golf moved up two spots in the final round of the Fourth Annual Matt Dyas Invitational hosted by the University of West Georgia at Oak Mountain Championship Golf Course in Carrollton, to finish tied for ninth in the field of 13. The Nighthawks finished at 314-300-302-916 in the 54-hole tournament.

Matt Elliott was the top individual performer for North Georgia finishing at 78-70-74-222, +6, tied for 18th individually. Grant Lasseter followed up his back-to-back 76s with a third round 75 to finish the day at 227, 11 shots over par and tied for 31st in the field individually.

Belmont Abbey used a strong third round to edge out Newberry in the team standings with a 286-294-285-865, just one stroke over par on the tournament. BAC's Jacob Scruggs held onto his 36-hole lead to claim the individual medalist honor at 71-70-71-212.

The Matt Dyas Invite concludes UNG's fall schedule. The men's golf team will resume play in early February.
