Truett McConnell's Jenni Shepard was named the 2016-17 AAC Coach of Character as announced Monday afternoon.

In addition to serving as head softball coach, Shepard serves as Associate Athletic Director and TMU's NAIA Champions of Character liasion. With her efforts, TMU placed second out of over 250 schools in the Champions of Character scoring last year.

The award is annually given to a head coach who has been with the institution for a minimum of five years, and who has embraced all five cores values of the NAIA Champions of Character program. This is demonstrated through sport and how they instill a culture of community leadership through volunteering or service within their program.
