One person died and 43 people were injured when a charter bus collided with a tractor-trailer on Ga. 515 Thursday in Gilmer County.
The Greatime Getaways bus was headed north on the highway when the tractor-trailer tried to turn left onto the roadway from Whitestone Road, but had to stop because of on-coming traffic, according to a news release from the Georgia State Patrol.
The trailer was stopped in the northbound lane, where it was hit by the bus.
Authorities have not identified the person who died, but said they will release the name when the victim's family has been notified.
The injured passengers were taken to local hospitals.
Charges had not been filed as of 4 p.m. Thursday, but the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
