Hall County Fire Services is joining other fire departments throughout Georgia in the Annual “Give Burns the Boot” Drive, benefitting the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.  The event will be held on three consecutive Fridays beginning tomorrow.

The foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to partner with the fire service and burn care community to provide fire safety and prevention education, support medical facilities, and assist burn survivors in their recovery.

Among activities made possible by Boot Drive proceeds is “Camp Oo-U-La”, Georgia’s only camp held exclusively for burn-injured children.  The camp, paid for entirely by the GFBF, allows campers one week a year in which they can live without society’s comments and stares, and just be kids.

While 100% of the money collected is deposited directly into the Burn Foundation’s bank account, a portion of the total funds raised is returned to Hall County Fire Services to support local education and prevention efforts, according to a press release from HCFS.

Last year, Hall County Fire Services was recognized as the second largest fundraiser in the state, raising in excess of $60,000.
