Gainesville Theatre Alliance invites the public to an insider’s tour of the preparations for its production of the classic "Beauty and the Beast."
Find out how GTA is working to make teapots and candlesticks sing at the upcoming free Stage Tour on Oct.25 at 6:00 p.m. at Brenau University's Hosch Theatre in the John S. Burd Center (429 Academy Street, Gainesville).
"Beauty and the Beast" director Jim Hammond and guest choreographer Barbara Hartwig will discuss the challenges of doing such a large-scale, well-known production, and other guest designers will share research images that inspired them in the creation of the French town and castle for this unique production.
And to round out an evening, following the Beauty and the Beast Stage Tour in the Hosch Theatre, patrons are also invited to attend Brenau’s Vocal Chamber/Dance concert at 7:30 in the lobby of the theatre.
"Beauty and the Beast" opens on Nov. 8 and runs through Nov. 19. While the Stage Tour is free, ticket prices for the production are $22-26 for adults, $20-24 seniors (65 and up), and $14-16 for students depending on seat location. Patrons can select and purchase seats on the website, www.gainesvilleTHEATREalliance.org, or by calling the GTA Box Office at 678-717-3624, Monday through Friday from 10:00-4:00.
