A teacher is under investigation at Lanier Middle School in Sugar Hill for an alleged racist rant last week directed towards students.
According to a report in the Gwinnett Daily Post, a letter sent home to parents from Principal Todd Hamilton said the teacher apparently raised her voice with the students.
Hamilton called the remarks "inappropriate."
The incident allegedly happened Wednesday between a health teacher and a group of African-American students who left a morning intramural class early.
The report said the teacher called the students "disrespectful," then led a class discussion about the incident, where the alleged racist remarks occurred.
Hamilton did not name the teacher in his letter to parents, but said "(W)e expect our staff members to respect students. A situation like this is very unusual for our school, and I assure you this is not the kind of behavior we will tolerate from staff."
