A Gainesville man on trial for a sexual assault at his home more than a year ago has been cleared of the most serious crimes in the case.
The attorney for Jamieson L. Allen confirmed his client was acquitted on the charges of aggravated sodomy and practicing medicine without a license.
Hammond Law said Allen was convicted on a misdemeanor charge of sexual battery. Allen was sentenced by Hall County Superior Court Judge Kathleen Gosselin to one year in prison with 60 days to serve.
Law said his client got credit for the 10 days he served when he was arrested before he posted bond.
The assault took place at Allen's home on March 26, 2015, according to statements released by police investigators. The victim, a 19-year-old black male, told police Allen had hired him to move furniture for him.
Allen was indicted on May 7, 2015 and his trial wrapped up in Hall County Superior Court on Monday.
