GAINESVILLE — Gainesville football could not muster enough offensive traction on Friday night, as Marist knocked off the Red Elephants 24-10 at City Park.
Gainesville managed just 113 yards, while the War Eagles rolled up 409 yards, 322 of that on the ground.
The Red Elephants (2-3) battled through much of the contest, trailing 17-10 before Marist made it a two-touchdown game.
Gainesville quarterback D.J. Irons connected with Red Davis for a touchdown but was also intercepted twice.
Gainesville, which has dropped two straight contests, will look to get back on track next week when the Red Elephants travel to takeon Habersham Central in Mt. Airy.
