Girls basketball: Strong start propels Lady Tigers past rival Lumpkin Co.

DAWSONVILLE — Dawson County exploded for 32 first quarter points en route to a 59-35 victory over Lumpkin County Friday night in Region 7-AAA action.

The Lady Tigers (20-2, 8-1 Region 7-AAA) led 32-9 after the opening period and extended the lead to 40-17 by halftime. They led by as many as 30 points in the third quarter.

Katelynn Simpson led Dawson County with 15 points. Karlie Bearden, Haley Burgess, and Kaylee Sticker each had eight points for the Lady Tigers.
