This is the last weekend to rake your leaves to the curb in Gainesville and have them picked up by the city. According to a press release from the city, the Street Maintenance Division is wrapping up leaf collection for another season, having collected more than 800 tons of leaves since October.
Construction and Maintenance Superintendent Todd Beebe said residents should pay close attention to their zones for the final pick-up of the season.
“The week of February 1 will be the last pick-up for Zone 1 (streets west of 129) and Zone 2 (streets east of 129). It is important that all remaining leaves be raked behind the curb by 7:00 a.m. Monday, February 1.”
As of January 27, the Street Maintenance Division spent more than 5200 man hours collecting 384 loads of leaves.
After February 8 all leaves must be bagged and placed curbside for pick-up.
