Boys basketball: Second half rally sends Banks County past Buford

HOMER — Banks County outscored Buford 42-29 in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit to beat the Wolves 60-50 Saturday night at home.

The Leopards (15-2) trailed most the first half as Buford (6-9) took a 21-18 lead into halftime. Banks County reclaimed the lead with a 19-9 third quarter for a 37-30 lead and then pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Zez Steeple had 19 points to pace Banks County, who was playing without Zac Orr, who was out after being sick all week. Kahmal Wiley had another double-double with 14 points and 11 boards and Trevae Cain aded 12 points and eight rebounds for the Leopards. Dylan Orr had eight points and 14 rebounds and Kendrick Simmons had seven points and six assists for Banks County.

Banks County is off until traveling to West Hall in a Region 7-AAA battle in Oakwood.

Buford will jump back into Region 8-AAAA action traveling to Johnson on Tuesday.
