DAHLONEGA — Senior midfielder Jade Pennock scored two second half goals, including the game-winner off a free kick to help lift the No. 2 University of North Georgia women's soccer team to a thrilling 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Lenoir-Rhyne. The Nighthawks improve to 7-0-0 on the season, while the Bears fall to 6-3-0.
Lenoir-Rhyne scored the only goal of the first half as Leah Mullins scored her 10th goal of the season for the Bears after finding a quick ball from Garcell Alequine in the 23rd minute.
Alequine found the back of the net herself in the 53rd minute to give Lenoir-Rhyne a 2-0 lead.
The Nighthawks started to chip away at the Bears lead in 58th minute as Pennock scored finishing a ball from a quick attack as Rachel VanHorn dribbled straight in the box to pull North Georgia within one.
UNG found the equalizer in the 76th minute when Alex Bowen scored her first goal of the season finishing a ball from Jacy Ramey in a crowded six-yard box.
Pennock became the hero of the night in the 87th minute blasting a free kick over the head of the L-R keeper into the top right corner to score the game-winning goal.
