University of North Georgia senior Mallory Sayre was named the Peach Belt Conference AstroTurf Goalkeeper of the Week the league office announced on Monday. It is the second time in three weeks that Sayre has won the honor.
Sayre collected her 22nd career shutout and fifth of the season in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Georgia College. The Bobcats had scored a combined seven goals in their first two conference games before being shutout by the Nighthawks.
The Snellville native ranks third nationally in goals against average with an eye-popping 0.17. Sayre leads the Peach Belt in fewest goals allowed, goals-against average, and save percentage.
North Georgia's five shutouts in a six game span is a program record.
The No. 3 Nighthawks return to the friendly confines of the UNG Soccer Complex this week for their first true home stand of the season. North Georgia will face Lenoir-Rhyne tomorrow at 5 p.m., before stepping back into conference action against Armstrong State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
