DAHLONEGA — East Hall scored 48 straight points to erase an early deficit en route to a stunning 48-14 win over Lumpkin County in both teams’ Region 7-AAA openers at The Burial Grounds Friday night.

Lumpkin County (2-3, 0-1 Region 7-AAA) scored within the first minute to grab a 7-0 lead but it would be all Vikings (1-3, 1-0) the rest of the way.

Jiel Vargas had 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns and added 50 yards receiving for East Hall. Quarterback Austin Parker had 200 yards passing and four touchdowns.

Markese Jackson had three touchdown receptions and Jacquen Hopkins had one touchdown catch for the Vikings.

The East Hall defense did a superb job of holding down Lumpkin County quarterback Zach Matthews.

“The defense was excellent against a very good offense and our offense was able to control the ball and get into the end zone,” East Hall coach Bryan Gray said. “It was great to see because we felt the guys had been building toward this.”
