Cross country: North Hall sweeps West Hall Inv., as Gearing scorches course

OAKWOOD — The North Hall boys and girls cross country teams each claimed titles, while Jenna Gearing and Corson Teasley put up stellar individual efforts on Tuesday in the West Hall Invitational in Oakwood.

Teasley crossed the finish line in 15:58, nearly breaking the course record set by former Trojans standout Cody Barger (15:55). His finish paced a Trojans team that also took third (Tommy Johnson, 16:11.4), ninth and 10th pout of a field of 19 teams.

Chestatee’s boys were second, led by Ivan Martin’s fifth place finish (16:36). Buford was third and Johnson fourth, paced by Gerardo Suarez;s second place finish (16:11.1).

Meanwhile, the Lady Trojans held off White County -- which was paced by Gearing’s scorching performance. The Lady Warriors standout took first in 18:36, smashing her old course record of 19:09. Teammate Jaelan Alexander took second in 19:59.

Mattie Bohanan led North Hall, finishing sixth (20:37), while North Hall also claimed 10th, 11th and 16th. Dawson County was third, featuring Frankie Muldoon’s third place finish (20:10). Buford was fourth, with Lauryn Davidson finishing fourth (20:16).

NOTES: The Lakeview Academy boys finished 16th, led by Hayes Kennedy's 18:40. The Lady Lions finished 11th, with Kaitlin Hocker finishing 28th (22:26). ... The Riverside Military team took 17th, led by Todd Hargrove (19:08) in 84th.
