ATLANTA — White County watched as Samuel Sloman split the uprights one last time to doom the Warriors to a 16-14 defeat on Friday in Atlanta.
Sloman drilled three field goals, including the game-winner from 48 yards with 13 seconds remaining, to lift Pace Academy to victory.
The Warriors (0-3) had fought back from a 10-0 deficit to grab a 14-10 advantage in the second half.
Kaleb Crain, who rushed for 143 yards on 27 carries, and Adam Johnson (3 carries, 60 yards) each scored touchdowns to lead White County. Johnson also had an interception.
Sloman was not to be denied, however, drilling field goals of 26, 52 and 48 -- he also missed a 58-yard effort.
The Warriors will begin Region 8-AAAA play next week, taking on Buford.
