It was a night of some fantastic finishes and one big upset Friday in Week 3 of the prep football season.

North Hall pulled off the biggest upset of the night knocking off West Hall 24-10 at The Brickyard behind three touchdowns from Kyle Bacus and using three West Hall turnovers against the Spartans. It was the biggest win so far for second-year North Hall coach David Bishop.

“It was huge for us. A tremendous effort by the kids,” Bishop said while surrounded by his team at midfield.

In some of the close finishes, Lanier nipped Flowery Branch 3-0 in a defensive battle in Region 8-AAAAA action. Towns County knocked off Lakeview Academy 25-21 in a Region 8-A battle.

In the marquee matchup of the night, Jefferson rallied from an early deficit and then pulled away late to beat Commerce 34-10 in a battle of old rivals.

White County fell victim to the close finish losing 16-14 to Pace Academy when the Knights booted a field goal in the waning seconds. Dawson County fell to Heritage, Catoosa 27-22 while Gainesville held off a late rally by Winder-Barrow for a 40-26 victory in another key Region 8-AAAAA showdown.
