MARYVILLE — In just their second game of the 2015 season, the Piedmont College women's soccer team picked up another shutout win besting Birmingham-Southern College 2-0 earlier today in their first game at the Maryville College Fall Invitational.

For the Lady Lions, it was TORI GILLETT's corner kick score that sparked the win as she served the set piece straight to the top of the mixer before it curled in off the hands of Panther keeper Ansley Tomlin. For Gillett, it's the second goal of her 2015 season as she also scored in the season opener vs. Agnes Scott on Tuesday, a 7-0 win for PC.

Piedmont's second score was enough to seal the deal as CASSIDY REICH scored in the second half with just about 25 minutes remaining, also her second of the season. A solid performance defensively shut the door on any Panther rally with the Lady Lions moving to 2-0 on the season.

Turning Point
-The Panthers were chasing the game from early on after TORI GILLETT's corner kick swung into the net in the opening five minutes of play.

Standout Performances
-MICHAELA GARDNER came up with eight saves including one on a Panther breakthrough midway through the first half that kept Piedmont in front.
-CASSIDY REICH picked up three of the team's eight shots including her goal in the 66th minute.

Inside the Box Score
-PC was outshot 11-5 in the second half, but Reich's goal midway through put the game out of reach for the Panthers.
-Gillett scored for the second straight game to start 2015, the second time in her young career that she has scored in back-to-back games for the Lady Lions as both her goals last season came in back-to-back showings.
-Three of Gillett's four goals have been gamewinners like today's.
-MEGAN HATFIELD's assist on Reich's second half goal is her first of the season.

News & Notes
-Coming into today's contest with the Panthers, Piedmont was 1-1 against BSC with this afternoon's contest being the first between the two at a neutral site.
-With the Lady Lions' win today, PC takes control of the series with their first multi-goal win against the Panthers.
-With Gardner's second shutout of the season, she stretches the Piedmont streak to nearly 475 minutes since the Lady Lions last allowed a score dating back to 2014.
