DACULA — Caleb Brooks ran for two scores and threw for one and J’Varius Wood ran for one score and caught two touchdown passes to lead Commerce to a 35-0 shellacking of Hebron Christian Friday night.
The Tigers (2-0) exploded for 21 second quarter points. Brooks connected with Wood on a 59-yard touchdown pass and then Brooks scored on a 1-yard run for a 14-0 lead. Wood capped the first half with a 20-yard touchdown catch from Cole Chancey.
In the third quarter Wood added a 28-yard touchdown run to make it 28-0 and Brooks put the finishing touches on the win with a 39-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers finished with 245 yards on the ground and added 108 yards passing. The Commerce defense held Hebron (2-1) which came in averaging 31.5 points a game, to just 108 total yards for the game.
Commerce will be put to the test next week playing host to arch-rival Jefferson in what should be an early candidate for game of the year between the two powerhouse teams.
