GAINESVILLE - Former Hall County School Board Chairman Richard Higgins has confirmed he is running for the Hall County Commission.
"I think you ought to leave this earth a better place than when you got here, and the only way to do that is to be of service and do things to make things better, so that's what I hope to do," he explained.
Higgins said he felt that he could bring teamwork to the commission, as well as his experience dealing with both personnel and parents, and he would be responsible with taxes.
"I felt like I might be of service, and bring some teamwork and unity to the Hall County Commission," he added. "I know I enjoy working with people and solving problems, and hope that if I'm elected I'll do a good job."
A lifelong resident of Hall County, Higgins served on the Hall County School Board for 12 years, holding the position of Board Chairman for 11 years.

Earlier this year, current chairman Dick Mecum announced he is not seeking re-election.
