HOSCHTON - The Georgia State Patrol is investigating after a car drove in to the CVS before lunch on Monday.
The driver of the vehicle was apparently in distress prior to the accident at the CVS Pharmacy at 5848 Highway 124 W, according to Jackson County EMS Director Steve Nichols.
"Bystanders reported that he may have had some type of medical emergency just before the accident," he explained.
The accident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m.
Nichols added that the driver had to be extricated by firefighters.
"The building was evacuated and the victim extricated from the vehicle by the West Jackson Fire Department. [He was] transported by Jackson County EMS to Northeast Georgia [Medical Center], where he is listed in stable condition," he said.
No one else was hurt, and the scene was clear by 1:30 p.m.
Nichols said it's unclear when the CVS will reopen.
