The University of North Georgia women's cross country team has been picked to finish second in the Peach Belt Conference preseason coaches poll, released on Tuesday by the conference office. The Nighthawks received 108 points, 12 points behind preseason favorite Montevallo.
The Falcons dominated the polling, capturing 10 out of a possible 11 first-place votes to finish with 120 points. Montevallo earned the team's second PBC Championship in 2014.
Last season, North Georgia finished second to UM at the PBC Championships and the NCAA Southeast Regional to earn their first-ever trip to the NCAA National Championships. The Nighthawks never finished lower than third in their first eight events of 2014 and return six runners for 2015.
Junior Brittany Truitt anchors the 2015 squad after being named PBC All-Conference last year and finishing eighth at the NCAA regional.
